Federal Government Unveils YouWin 2 for Women

YouWiN! Women is the second edition of the entrepreneurial scheme which is designed for only female entrepreneurs aged 45 years or less. This is to boost the number of women beneficiaries, which was just 17 per cent in the first phase of the competition. YouWiN! stands for Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria. It is an innovative business plan competition aimed at job creation by encouraging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurial youth in Nigeria to develop and execute business ideas. The first phase of the programme was accomplished by selection of 1,200 awardees who received between N1 million and N10 million grant at the Presidential Villa on April 12, 2012.

To kick off this process, we partnered with Unveiling Africa Foundation to provide training on “Entrepreneurship and Social Change” during the  official induction of the first set of students into the UVA Teenagers Transformers Program.

BusinessDay Media Nigeria Limited (in a strategic partnership with the Financial Times of London, Business Day South Africa & The Economist of London) is the publisher of West Africa’s leading business, and financial daily newspaper. The one -day capacity building forum for SMEs had the theme: New Challenges for SMEs: Post CBN Intervention. The event held on March 24 at Eko hotel & Suites, Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria.  The vision of the forum is to create a platform for small and medium sized companies and organizations in Nigeria and around the world to support the development of SMEs in Nigeria. To promote and encourage companies and organizations by providing them with a platform to network with peers and learn about global best practices and current issues related to SMEs, their development and benefits.

Between 11 December 2008 & 19 March 2009, BusinessDAY newspaper published the Economic and Financial Digest. Our column which was committed to fighting for and gaining support of SME development in Nigeria had 40% front page articles to our credit, thereby exposing our concerns to readers who may serve as change agents for SME's.
