Biography

Chief Olubunmi Olaopa is a 1975 Bachelor of Pharmacy graduate of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). In the course of his illustrious career in the pharmaceutical industry, he attended many executive management, sales and marketing courses including the Advanced Management Programme of the Lagos Business School and the Executive Training Programme of Duke University, North Caroline, USA. He is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria and also a Fellow of the West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacy.

He started his career in the industry with Glaxo Nigeria Plc and rose to become the Managing Director of Glaxo Wellcome Nigeria Ltd in 1996. Later when Glaxo Wellcome was merged with SmithKline Beecham Plc in 2000, he was appointed the Managing Director, GlaxoSmithKline (Pharmaceutical) Nigeria & West Africa. He was the Managing Director Cipla Evans Nigeria Ltd before his present appointment as the Group Managing Director of Evans Medical Nigeria Limited.

Bunmi brings to the Board, rich experience garnered over the years. He is a Chairman of FAB Investments Limited, Westbury Limited UK, FABBER Limited and a Director of African Biofuels Ltd, KATO Enterprises UK Ltd amongst other companies. Mr Olaopa is a member of the Presidential Committee on Pharmaceutical Sector Reforms, Member of the Ministerial Committee on Drug Distribution Guidelines, a Member of the Council of National Council for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development. He is currently the Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMGMAN) and the President of the West African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (WAPMA).
